A Review of Ballistic, Slash, and Stab Protection for Integration in First Responder Personal Protective Clothing The 2015 National Fire Service Research Agenda report placed a significant priority on the evaluation and development of ballistic protection for firefighters and emergency medical service (EMS) first responders. While some fire departments have adopted hard armor vests worn underneath or overtop of their uniform or turnout suits, body armor should be integrated into first responder personal protective clothing (PPC) such that ballistic and stab protection is an inherent property of the clothing system. The purpose of this review article was to explore the ballistic protection needs of first responders and investigate the potential integration of such protection into structural firefighting and EMS protective clothing. A Review on Auxetic Textile Structures, Their Mechanism and Properties Materials that possess a negative Poisson’s ration are classified to be auxetic textile materials. As compared to conventional materials, they exhibit a counter-intuitive quality which enables them to expand longitudinally when stretched and contract laterally when compressed. This counter- intuitive effect occurs as a result of the structural deformation of these auxetic textile materials when they are subjected to tension. This paper considers the current structures of auxetic textile materials, more importantly their deformational mechanism, properties and some general applications. Introduction to Carbon Nanotube Hybrid Textiles Carbon nanotube hybrid textiles (CNHT) are produced from a carbon nanotube (CNT) gas phase pyrolysis floating catalyst process with particle injection. The CNT based metal and ceramic textiles produced can be customized for different applications. Research is underway by a large group of students and faculty members working in different disciplines to further investigate injection of different types of nanoparticles in order to wet the nanotubes and to customize the properties of textiles. Which Languages That Colors Speaking in Fashion Textiles/Clothes

Textile Science and Fashion Technology Aesthetics a focusing on colour words by themselves seems to reach no satisfactory answers in fashion textiles/clothes, the focus will now be put on compound colour words; compound aesthetics colour words present a quite interesting set of properties that may help to better understand the former. Compound colour nouns are formed by a simple aesthetics colour noun and a modifier an adjective or a noun. Like simple aesthetics colour nouns, they are typically masculine nouns. The questions that were initially put can now be replied in fashion textiles/clothes. The observation of the grammatical behavior of simple and compound aesthetics colour words supports the hypothesis that colour nouns and aesthetics colour adjectives are different lexical items, and also that adjectives are obtained by conversion of colour nouns. Textile Science and Fashion Technology Human Centered Design (HCD) is a design framework used to develop solutions to problems experiences by humans. It focuses on an end-user (i.e. who you are designing a solution for) and incorporates their input at multiple stages throughout the design process. These tools fit loosely into an overall, iterative timeline, which comprises a comprehensive design process. HCD has been applied successfully in diverse settings within academia, industry, and government [1]. Because consumers often have strong personal preferences for the clothing they wear, this methodology can also be used to effectively design apparel for these consumers. Therefore, students preparing for careers in apparel design should be trained in the use of this framework, which will augment their ability to design apparel for their customers. Textiles: The Future

Textile Science and Fashion Technology It is often said in the world of fashion that fashion is “evolutionary not revolutionary”. I agree with that statement that fashion is evolutionary but only from a design and silhouette standpoint. Today the industry is truly revolutionary from a textile standpoint. It is therefore my opinion that the statement as written needs to have a new chapter added where fashion becomes revolutionary and evolutionary at the same time with textiles leading that revolutionary. For those that have grown up in the fashion business where fiber choice was limited to several mainstays such as natural fibers like cotton, wool, linen and silk and the man-made fibers like polyester and nylon it is refreshing to see what is happening through the use of technology and innovation in fiber and textile development. It is not only a revolution in new fibers and fiber creation but there are exciting strides that have been made in the mainstays mentioned above tha...
