Fashion and Health – Utilizing Wearable Technology and Traditional Chinese Medicine to Design Two Wearable Acupressure Prototypes Abstract According to Wright and Keith [1], “wearable technology and wearable devices are phrases that describe electronics and computers that are integrated into clothing and other accessories that can be worn comfortably on the body”. Examples of wearable devices include; glasses, watches, headbands, and jewelry. These technologies have also been applied to fashion in relation to sport activities, fitness and even health. Progress in Textile Reinforced Ductile Cementitious Composite for Structural Retrofitting This paper presents a review of literature on the innovation of textile reinforced mortar (TRM) and its applications in structural retrofitting fields. The structure of this paper is focused on the definition of this composite along with its characterization and the most common recent applications on structural retrofitting of concrete and masonry structures. The technique has dragged a respectable research interest in the construction fields due to its promising characteristics, ease of application and competitive cost. More research is required to cover many aspects such as the matrix used to bond textile fibres. As fashion is based on human preferences, it is characterized by dynamic changes throughout seasons and years, short lifecycles, low predictability, high volatility of demand and impulse purchases. In the dynamic environment of apparel markets, fashion firms aim at successfully forecasting both the desirability of new collections and the volumes of each item produced and released to the market under terms of substantial levels of uncertainty. Regression Analysis of the Effects of Yarn Counts, Stitch Lengths on Depth of Stripes of Different Single Jersey Fabrics Abstract Fabric can be made attractive by means of ornamentation and designing. Stripe is one means by which attractive fabric can be produced which added extra values of that product. This research was to investigate the effects of yarn counts, Knit structures and Stitch Lengths on the depth of stripes. All the samples were made with 100% cotton dyed yarns. The work was done in three sections. In the first section, using a stitch length 2.8mm, three Single Jersey Plain structures were produced using different yarn counts which were 30 Ne, 28 Ne, and 26 Ne. In the second section, Single Jersey Plain, Single Lacoste, Polo Pique, and Double Lacoste structures were produced with 26 Ne yarn at stitch length 2.8mm. Braided Rope Sensor Based on Carbon Nanotube Yarn Abstract Carbon nanotube (CNT) is exhibited outstanding electrical, mechanical, and structural properties. CNT yarn is widely used in textile structures as multifunctional yarn and is suitable as strain sensor. Here, use two methods for braiding CNT yarn into rope to make sensing ropes. The properties of CNT yarn and different ropes were tested, then according to the result the best method was chosen for the preparation of sensing rope. Results show the CNT yarn have enough strength to be used in braiding process, CNT embedded rope structure has more stable sensing property than CNT braided rope structure. The rope has approximately ≥7% resistance change ratio per 10% strain, so the embedded rope structure is the optimal structure for sensing rope.
