Sustainable Textile School Goes to the World Textile Forum in Zürich In 2018 the “Sustainable Textile School” took 130 participants from 38 countries to Chemnitz, and in 2019, this intensive exchange on sustainability and digitalization is taking place at the World Textile Forum in Zürich, just before the Global Fibre Congress in Dornbirn in September. To enable a scientifically-sound exchange of knowledge on sustainability all along the supply chain, the “Sustainable Textile School” began in Chemnitz in 2017 with leading textiles companies and participants from 30 countries. This year we’re delighted to be merging with the World Textile Forum in Zürich to tackle the topic of sustainability and digitalization. Pre-Post Washing Comparison for Horizontal Wicking Behavior of Three Types of Knits in Different Fiber- Contents TThe study examined pre and post wash horizontal wicking of interlock, jersey and pique knits in various fiber-contents using AATCC 198-2013. Impact of weight, thickness and count was also examined. Multiple regression, paired t-test and repeated measure one factor test were used to test the hypotheses. Findings revealed that collectively all types of knits had higher wicking in post than pre-wash state. Differences were significant for different knit structures for different fiber contents. Effect of wash as well as type of knit was found to be significant. Weight, thickness and count contributed differentially to the wicking ability of knits in pre and post wash settings. Examination of Colorfastness to Laundering of Naturally Dyed Fabrics using Contact Dyeing Method with Blueberries Use of the contact dyeing method and natural mordants may have potential for reducing wastewater and developing a more sustainable method for natural dyeing. However, few studies have investigated colorfastness of naturally dyed fabrics using a contact dyeing method. Thus, the purpose of this study was to examine colorfastness to laundering of naturally dyed fabrics using contact dyeing and a natural mordant in relation to different mordant concentrations, mordanting procedures, and heating times. Mashed blueberries were sprayed on bleached cotton fabrics. Vinegar, a mordant, was applied in different concentrations: 25, 50, or 100% on the fabric. Application of Luminous Textile Coated by TiO 2 For Photocatalytic Removal of Acetic Acid, Formaldehyde and Toluene from Indoor Air Abstract Luminous textile coated by silica and TiO 2 is studied for indoor air treatment. The textile aging induced by UV exposure in the presence of TiO 2 coating was studied, showing a good durability of the textile after protection by Silica layer unlike silica‐free textile. Interesting photocatalytic activity was achieved for the photocatalytic luminous textile to remove three different VOCs in air which are acetic acid (AA), formaldehyde and toluene. The effect of number of photons and residence time was carefully highlighted for both TiO 2 P25 in powder or supported in the luminous textile. Who Moved My Fabrics? Supplier Management Strategies for Small Fashion Buyers Abstract Small medium enterprises represent the largest share of revenues in the apparel and fashion business, compared to larger integrated companies. Small companies however often have to rely on larger suppliers in order to efficiently produce their products. These larger suppliers however will often prioritize companies that place larger orders. In the impossibility to deliver larger orders, how can these buyers make sure that a producer complies with their requests? In this paper we try to answer this question by applying concepts from the marketing channels literature to the specific context of fashion buying.
